CREATION OF EARTH BY ALLAH

“Indeed, it is Allah who holds the heavens and the earth, preventing them from deviating. Were they to ever drift away, none could uphold them besides Him. He is surely Most Forbearing and All-Forgiving.” [Surah Faatir 35:41]

Allah created the heavens and the earth all in six days. the scholars say there are two reasons number one it could be that perhaps the angels were already created because we don’t really know when the angels were created so it could be that they were there and Allah  wanted to show them his power, he wanted them to see the magnificence of this creation as it came into being so they would see the heavens and the earth the oceans the mountains all of this coming into being in front of their eyes

Secondly ,scholars said that  there is  a lesson for us as human beings . One of the most beloved qualities  to Allah  is taking things strategically, slowly, gradually planning things out properly so we learn from that to be gradual when we do things and to do things properly and with ihsan and excellence .

The prophet pbuh  said that  Allah  started the creation on the day of Saturday and  Allah finished on a Friday, which is the best of all days and that’s why the prophet pbuh said that we as an Ummah as a people were guided to the day of Friday because it’s the best of those days and so on the day of judgment though we were the last ummah,  the last of the nations, we will be the first to stand and the first to come forth in front of Allah subhana wa Ta’ala.

. . the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder” (21:30).

Following this big explosion, Allah

“. . . turned to the sky, and it had been (as) smoke. He said to it and to the earth: ‘Come together, willingly or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We come (together) in willing obedience'” (41:11).

Thus the elements and the matter destined to become the planets and stars began to cool, come together, and form into shape, following the natural laws that Allah established in the universe.

The Qur’an further states that Allah created the sun, the moon, and the planets, each with their own individual courses or orbits.

“It is He Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course” (21:33).

The Qur’an states that

“Allah created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in six days” (7:54).

The verses that mention “six days” use the Arabic word yawm (day). This word appears several other times in the Qur’an, each denoting a different measurement of time. In one case, the measure of a day is equated with 50,000 years (70:4), whereas another verse states that

“a day in the sight of your Lord is like 1,000 years of your reckoning” (22:47).

The word yawm is thus understood to be a long period of time–an era or eon. Therefore, Muslims interpret the description of a “six-day” creation as six distinct periods or eons. The length of these periods is not precisely defined, nor are the specific developments that took place during each period.

After completing the Creation, the Qur’an describes how Allah “settled Himself upon the Throne” (57:4) to oversee His work.

“We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us” (50:38).

Allah is never “done” with His work because the process of creation is ongoing. Each new child who is born, every seed that sprouts into a sapling, every new species that appears on earth, is part of the ongoing process of Allah’s creation.

“He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne. He knows what enters within the heart of the earth, and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven, and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wherever you may be. And Allah sees well all that you do” (57:4).

The Quranic account of creation is in line with modern scientific thought about the development of the universe and life on earth. Muslims acknowledge that life developed over a long period of time, but see Allah’s power behind it all. Descriptions of creation in the Quran are set in context to remind the readers of Allah’s majesty and wisdom.

Allah created the universe from a single entity, and He is All-Capable over all things. Allah then ordered this ‘single entity’ to split, which it did, and turned into a cloud of smoke. From this cloud of smoke Allah created the heavens and earth. This is mentioned in the words of Allah.

Scientists say that before the galaxies in the universe were formed, celestial matter was initially in the form of gaseous matter. In short, huge gaseous matter or clouds were present before the formation of the galaxies. To describe initial celestial matter, the word ‘smoke’ is more appropriate than gas

. The following Qur’aanic verse refers to this state of the universe by the word dhukhan which means smoke

. Surah Fussilat Chapter # 41 Verse # 11

“Moreover, He comprehended In His design the sky, And it had been (as) smoke: He said to it And to the earth: ‘Come ye together, Willingly or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We do come (Together), in willing obedience.’”

It is a scientific fact that the universe is expanding, the idea that the universe is continuing to expand is available in the Qur’an.

The heavens, We have built them with power. And verily, We are expanding it” (51:47). There has been some historical debate among Muslim scholars about the precise meaning of this verse, since knowledge of the universe’s expansion was only recently discovered.

At another place in Quran Allah Discuss about the time period of creation of universe, if you read the Qur’an

Surah Al Araf  Chapter #7 verse #54

Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o’er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!

Indeed your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days,1 then established Himself on the Throne. He makes the day and night overlap in rapid succession. He created the sun, the moon, and the stars—all subjected by His command. The creation and the command belong to Him ˹alone˺. Blessed is Allah—Lord of all worlds!(Qur’an 7:54).

The above six days are six phases. The days before the creation of the universe or before the formation of the earth, sun and moon. Not the days we count anyway.

“Ask, do you disbelieve in Allah who created the earth in two days and created equals for Him?” He is Lord of the worlds” (Quran 41:9).

“On the earth He placed firm mountains on its surface, showered blessings on them and provided provisions for four days. All this has been done precisely for the investigators. Then he turned to the sky. It was smoke. Then he said to it and to the earth: “Come ye both by force or not  force.” They both said: “We have come in obedience.” Thus, in two days, Allah made them into seven heavens and informed each one of its affairs. We adorned the sky nearest (to the earth) with some lights (stars) and protected it. It is the decree of Allah, the Invincible and the All-Knowing (Qur’an 41:10-12).

How do we reconcile the four days of the two days it took to create the earth and the two days it took to set up the mountains, arrange the food, and shower the blessings on it? Verily those days belong to Allah. Only He knows its duration. Those are not the days of reckoning on earth.

The days of the earth are only the newly created time period after the birth of the earth. A day is defined as the length of time it takes for the Earth to rotate once on its axis. Planets and stars have their own days, just like Earth. Their days may be longer or shorter than Earth’s days.

The days taken to create the earth, place the mountains on it, and arrange the food are likely to be days of any standard known to us. They are undoubtedly longer days than the ones we are familiar with.

From the science we have acquired, all we can imagine about these days is this: the time it took to mature the earth so that living things could survive and coexist. According to scientific calculations, it took two thousand million years. These are just scientific conclusions based on the study of rocks. We must resort to the Holy Qur’an. We should not treat scientific conclusions as the final truth.

The seven Earths

The Earth that we are on is one of seven (7) Earths that Allāh created ; it is also the highest one. Each Earth is separated from the other. In the seventh Earth there is a place called Sijjin. The souls of the blasphemers go there after their bodies decay, until the Resurrection (Ba`th). Hellfire (Jahannam) is under the seventh Earth. It is the fire with which Allāh threatened the blasphemers and sinners among His slaves. Allāh created this Earth during the first two days.

The Seven Heaven

After Allāh created the Earth, He created the seven heavens. Each heaven is a solid body that is held up without any pillars. The heavens are separated. From one heaven to the other is a distance of five hundred (500) years, and every heaven has a gate.

The first heaven is so far away from the Earth. Some people are unable to encompass this to the extent that they believe that the space which contains the stars and planets is the entire universe. They also falsely believe that it extends without an end. There is no point to their claims, because Allāh told us in the Qur’an and the Prophet pbuh  also informed us in his Hadith what is contradictory to their claims. Paradise exists above the seventh heaven.

After the creation of the seven heavens, Allāh created what is on the Earth: rivers, trees, mountains, and the like.

The Upper Pen & the Guarded Tablet

After Allāh created the water and the Throne, He created the Upper Pen, then the Guarded Tablet, and then the rest of the creations.

The Upper Pen and the Guarded Tablet: It was narrated in the description of the Guarded Tablet that it is a white pearl and its edge is made of red ruby. Its width is the traveling distance of five hundred (500) years.

Allāh ordered the Pen to write. The Pen wrote, by the Will of Allāh, without anyone holding it. It wrote on the Guarded Tablet what was and what will be in this life until its end. Fifty thousand (50,000) years after this event, Allāh created the heavens and Earth in six (6) days. No person is born and no drop of water falls except in accordance with what was written in the Guarded Tablet

He also states, “Allâh it is He Who has created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them in six days. Then He rose over (Istawâ) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty).” [Al-Sajdah: 4]

“And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days” [Qaf: 38] etc.

The days are: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.Nothing was created on Saturday for it is the seventh day and Sabt (Saturday) means interruption.

The authentic reports indicate that Allah created the heavens and the earth and that is between them in seven  days. As for the Hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), “Allah created the Earth on Saturday, He created the mountains on Sunday, He created the trees on Monday, He created the things entailing labour on Tuesday, He created light on Wednesday, He spread out the animals on Thursday, and He created Adam (peace be upon him) after ‘Asr (Afternoon) on Friday. It is the last of creation in the last hour of the day, between ‘Asr and the night.”

From the formation of galaxies and celestial bodies to the delicate ecosystems on Earth, every aspect of creation reflects the perfection of Allah’s design. The stars that adorn the night sky, the mountains that rise majestically, and the oceans that teem with life are all remarkable manifestations of Allah’s creative power. They inspire us to reflect on the purpose and meaning of our existence and to recognize the beauty and harmony embedded within Allah’s creation.

Moreover, the creation of the heavens and the earth serves as a constant reminder of Allah’s sovereignty and His divine attributes. It is a testament to His limitless knowledge and wisdom . Through the creation of such a magnificent universe, Allah invites us to ponder upon His signs and to deepen our understanding of His majesty and greatness.

In conclusion, the formation of the heavens and the earth stands as a testament to the limitless power and creativity of Allah. The intricate design, balance, and beauty that surround us offer a glimpse into the perfection of Allah’s creation.
