How A Purposeful Beginning Of Life Was Created On Earth
For readers who question evolution or feel uncertain about human origins, the Islam teaches us that humanity came into existence through a deliberate act of divine creation.
Human beings were not created from apes, nor did we slowly transform into our present form through blind natural processes.
In the Islamic understanding, humanity begins with a direct and purposeful act of Allah: the creation of Adam, shaped from clay and honoured with a soul. This view places humans in a unique category, distinct from animals, because our origin is tied to divine intention rather than evolutionary descent. The Qur’an describes humans as being created “in the best form,” emphasizing dignity, consciousness, and moral responsibility from the very beginning. This perspective affirms that we came into existence exactly as Allah intended—fully human, fully honoured, and fully capable of carrying the trust placed upon us.
THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE.
The Initial Stage in the formation of larger amino acids, which eventually led to the emergence of RNA and DNA, is often associated with four key phases. This process began with water and gradually transitioned to clay.
In the primordial soup, the earliest amino acids were synthesized. Over time, these amino acids further evolved into RNA and DNA within the clay layers surrounding pools. These pools contained a mixture of sulfur, acid, and salt, which was heated by the Earth’s crust. Interestingly, similar pools can still be found worldwide, and underwater volcanoes at the ocean’s depths also create an ideal combination of heat, carbon, sulfur, acids, salts, and water.
32:7 Who has perfected everything He created and He originated the creation of humankind from clay.
(Man was created out of hydrated inorganic matter). Surah As-Sajda (The Prostration)
32:8 Then He made his descendants from an extract of a humble fluid
15:26 And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.
37:11 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], “Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?” Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.
15:28 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud ” (2:30-35, 7:11-22, 17:61, 19:21, 20:116-120).
15:33 He said, “Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud.”
32:7 Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay.
55:14 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.
“He created the human from inorganic matter, which resembled an empty pot (Fakha’ar). It was devoid of any trace of its final form. The term ‘Fakha’ar’ refers to baked pottery or a vessel made of clay. The word ‘Khalaqa’ signifies bringing something into existence according to a specific measure or proportion, making it equal to something that did not previously exist.”
23:12 Now, indeed, We created the human being from the extract (Sulalah )of clay.
In order to make Adam, angels were sent to gather soil from Earth. The soil represented different natural variations; it was red, white, brown, and black. It originated in fertile plains, valleys, deserts, and mountains. The future diversity of Adam’s descendants was represented by this diversity.
Initially, it was soil taken from the Earth.God speaks of it as clay. It turned into mud when combined with water. After being let to stand, it became sticky clay. After molding Adam’s form, it became sounding clay. He formed and proportioned the human through successive stages as Clay is molded into shape and stages and baked into pottery.
Scientists believe that clay particles, which are widespread on Earth, have the ability to bind and interact with organic compounds. RNA molecules can assemble on their surface, potentially playing a role in the emergence of life , as clay can act as catalysts and stabilizers.
As catalysts, clay helped speed up the chemical reactions that combined amino acids into larger molecules like RNA and DNA. As stabilizers, clay helped maintain the structure of these molecules, preventing them from breaking down. This supportive environment allowed the building blocks of life to form and evolve.
In the beginning, plants were first born, then animals, and finally human beings were made.
Furthermore ,clay particles stimulate the formation of fatty acid, which allow an environment to develop that is isolated from the outside world.
Every cell in the body, including those of plants, animals, and fungi, is made of double-layered fatty acids. Double-layered fatty acid bindings form in a solution of fatty acids and clay particles. In addition, if molecules become “stuck” on the surface of the encased clay particles, this may be very significant for the origins of life, then by this theory we can explain the build of the primitive cell.”
The Second Stage comprises of
Formation of Unicellular Organisms:
- During the early stages of Earth’s history, around 3.5 billion years ago, the planet was inhabited by simple, unicellular organisms.
- Blue-green algae (also known as cyanobacteria) were among the first life forms. These photosynthetic bacteria played a crucial role in shaping our planet.
- Through photosynthesis, blue-green algae produced oxygen, gradually increasing its concentration in the atmosphere. This oxygen production was essential for the subsequent evolution of more complex life forms.
Interestingly, some bacteria can also produce oxygen, but green plants are the primary contributors.
Emergence of Multicellular Life:
As environmental conditions changed, some unicellular organisms formed clusters or colonies. These clusters cooperated with one another, each cell performing a specific function.
Over time, these clusters evolved into more complex multicellular organisms. The lack of a central nervous system meant that each cell operated independently but in coordination with others.
The need for centralized control led to the development of basic nervous systems. Cells specialized in directing the functions of other cells, allowing for more efficient cooperation.
The Role of Oxygen:
Oxygen played a pivotal role in the evolution of life. It allowed for more energy-efficient metabolic processes and enabled the emergence of aerobic organisms.
Cyanobacteria, including blue-green algae, were crucial oxygen producers. Their photosynthesis released oxygen into the atmosphere, forming an oxygen layer.
Without this oxygen layer, complex life forms like animals and plants would not have been possible. Oxygen became a fundamental component of Earth’s biosphere.
Green Plants and Oxygen Production:
While cyanobacteria were essential oxygen producers, green plants (such as land plants and algae) took over this role later.
Through photosynthesis, green plants absorb carbon dioxide (CO₂) and release oxygen (O₂). They are responsible for maintaining the oxygen levels we rely on today.
In summary, the transition from unicellular to multicellular life, the evolution of nervous systems, and the critical role of oxygen all shaped the course of life on Earth. Without the contributions of blue-green algae and later green plants, our existence as complex organisms would not have been possible
(Quran 36:80) (God) Who produces for you fire out of the GREEN TREE, so that, behold, you kindle from it.
- Third Stage: Complex Multicellular Organisms
- During this stage, multicellular clusters evolved into more intricate life forms.
- These organisms developed specialized cells and tissues, leading to the emergence of various animal groups.
- Examples include early birds, insects, fish, marine life, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles (including dinosaurs).
- Basic nervous systems allowed for coordinated movement and responses
- Fourth and Final Stage: Highly Developed Nervous Systems and Consciousness
- In this stage, organisms continued to evolve, leading to beings with advanced nervous systems.
- These nervous systems enabled complex behaviors, learning, and consciousness.
- Humans, along with other intelligent animals like dolphins and whales. inhabit this final stage.
- Our elevated consciousness allows us to think, reason, and reflect on our existence
24:45 Allah has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills(with a purpose and according to his laws).Indeed, Allah is over all things competent
82:7 Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
95:4 We have certainly created man in the best of stature.
80:19 He created them from a sperm-drop, and ordained their development.
7:11 Surely We created you, then shaped you, then said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did—but not Iblîs, who refused to prostrate with the others.
ADAM
The literal meaning of the term Adam, which is derived from the root Adama, is “to reconcile” or “to be brown.”
Adam signifies: brown, human skin, man, person, intelligent person, and human being.
The term “man” refers to the human race, humanity, civilized person, being made of many substances, having various powers, having heirs, enjoying life’s comforts, and being socially and harshly inclined by nature.
Adam means Intelligent Man, which is also the exact meaning of Homo Sapiens, the scientific term for Modern Man. The first humans are called Khalifah, which means One who comes after and stands in the place of someone who precedes him.
6:133 Your Lord is the Self-Sufficient, Full of Mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and replace you with whoever He wills, just as He produced you from the offspring of other people.
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration . Allah gave them the mind and body to behave the way they choose we have created them and strengthened their frame. And if We Will, We can replace them entirely with other nations.
2:31 And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: “Tell me the names of these if you are right.”
Allah gave Adam the capacity to attain knowledge. Then He showed the angels certain things and said to them, “Tell me if you have the capacity of learning about these, if you are truly better qualified to have supremacy in the planet Earth.
15:29 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him my [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration (That something will be the gift of free will, the ability to make decisions 76:3).
We also know that the first humans developed in Africa between 2 million and 200.000 years ago. So our ancestors were black of skin, which is also the MAIN meaning of Adama To be brown.
71:14 While He has created you in (different) stages.
71:17 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth {progressive growth}.
(This metaphor highlights the continuous process of life and emphasizes our connection to the natural world. )
7:172 When your Lord asked all the offspring of Adam (before their birth), “Am I not your Lord?” All of them testified and bore witness to their testimony that on the Day of Judgment they would not say, “We were not aware of this (fact)
Through this spreading over the earth. The Children of Adam were exposed to different circumstances, and thus their bodies adapted to these circumstances. Eyes adapted, skin color, body hair, body length and so on.
35:28 And among people and moving creatures and grazing livestock are various colors similarly. Only those fear Allah , from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Forgiving.
30:22 And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colours. Surely in this are signs for those of ˹sound˺ knowledge
42:29 And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and all living beings He dispersed throughout both. And He is Most Capable of bringing all together whenever He wills.
It has been mentioned in the Quran that generations of human beings have inhabited the Earth from Adam and Eve(Hawwa). “Oh mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily the most honoured among you in the sight of Allah is one who is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” (Quran 49:13).
